I’m the person behind BestAgentPick — a slightly obsessive AI tool reviewer who has spent the last two years testing, breaking, cursing at, and occasionally falling in love with every AI tool I can get my hands on. At last count, I’ve personally tested over 800 AI tools across 58 categories. My electricity bill is embarrassing. My browser has 347 open tabs. My partner has stopped asking “what are you doing?” and just sighs.
Why I Built This Site
Here’s the problem: the AI tool market in 2026 is an absolute mess. There are thousands of tools, most “review sites” are just rewritten press releases, and half the comparison articles you find on Google are written by the tool’s own marketing team pretending to be objective. I got tired of reading “Top 10 AI Tools” articles where tool #1 happened to be the article’s sponsor.
So I built BestAgentPick to be the review site I wished existed:
- Every tool gets tested for real. I don’t just read the feature page and summarize it. I sign up, pay for the subscription out of my own pocket, and use the tool for actual work. If I say “this tool’s response time averaged 11 seconds,” it’s because I timed it
- Nobody pays for rankings. Our “Best Pick” recommendations are based on testing, not sponsorship. We make money through affiliate links (which we fully disclose), but the rankings are never for sale. I’ve turned down five-figure offers to move a tool up the list. The answer is always no
- We tell you what sucks. Every review includes a “What actually annoyed me” section. If a tool has a dealbreaker flaw, you’ll know about it before you hand over your credit card
How We Review AI Tools
My review methodology isn’t complicated, but it is thorough:
- Real signup, real usage. I create a fresh account, go through the actual onboarding, and use the tool for its intended purpose for at least one week. For major reviews (like our chatbot comparison), the testing period extends to months
- Standardized tests. For each category, I run a consistent set of test scenarios so tools are compared apples-to-apples. For AI chatbots, that’s 47 prompts covering creative writing, coding, analysis, and factual accuracy. For customer service tools, it’s 500 real support tickets
- Price tracking. AI tool pricing changes constantly. I check and update pricing at least monthly, and every article shows when it was last verified
- Real hardware. Testing happens on a MacBook Pro M3 and a Windows desktop, with Chrome as the primary browser. I note performance differences when they’re significant
- No AI-generated fluff. The opinions, frustrations, and recommendations in every review are genuinely mine. I’ve spent real hours with these tools, and you can tell because I have very specific complaints about all of them
Our Values
Honest over polite. I’d rather tell you a tool is mediocre than pretend everything is “amazing” and “revolutionary.” Most AI tools are fine. A few are genuinely great. Some are terrible. You deserve to know which is which.
Useful over comprehensive. I don’t review 200 tools per category. I test the ones that matter and tell you which ones to actually use for your specific situation. A focused recommendation is worth more than an endless list.
Updated over forgotten. AI moves fast. A review from 6 months ago is already outdated. We re-test and update our major reviews regularly, and every article shows its last update date.
